The layout of the first underground line in Ecuador’s capital is 22 km long and has thirteen new stations which are added to the two that have already been built by ACCIONA.
The line will also feature workshops and the railway facilities needed for its proper operation. The contract includes the integration and implementation of systems.
The underground line runs from the current Quitumbe bus terminal at the south of the city to the station of El Labrador, located at the north, on the grounds of the former airport.
Phase I of Quito Metro, also carried out by ACCIONA, involved the construction of the stations of El Salvador and La Magdalena.
Streamlining the passenger transport system of the city of Quito. This first line is the first element of a new public transport system in Quito.
The project will involve savings of up to US $50 million per year in fuel for improvements in urban transport, with a subsequent reduction of 67,000 tonnes of CO2.
