    The Construction business of ACCIONA established a permanent subsidiary in Portugal in the 1940s. Since then, it has pursued projects of all types, such as the Alqueva dam (Europe’s largest reservoir) and the Infante Don Henrique bridge. Special mention must be given to the work carried out for the Lisbon 1998 Expo, with very public developments such as Gare de Oriente station, Marechal Gomes da Costa high-speed overpass, the Pinto Ribeiro pass and Cabeço das Rolas urban garden in Lisbon.

    The "Gare de Oriente" intermodal station connects the rail, underground and bus lines in Lisbon. It was designed by architect Santiago Calatrava and built to facilitate access to the 1998 Universal Exhibition.
