The Law School annexe at the University of Barcelona, located in the city’s Avenida Diagonal, was inaugurated on Thursday 15 February.
The new building includes administrative offices, departmental spaces, lecture rooms and additional car parking. The new facilities are distributed into four high-rise units (ground floor plus four upper floors) separated by courtyards but connected via the basement. One of the building’s most distinctive features is the three-storey cantilevered unit that houses the lecture room block.
The building’s curtain wall façade uses concrete and artificial stone, with aluminium exterior carpentry. The site occupies a plot of approximately 20,000 m2. Some 381,000 kg of steel and over 10,000 m3 of concrete were used in the construction. The works, with a budget of nearly €18 million, were carried out by a joint venture between ACCIONA Construction and Sorigué.
