The event took place on 23 October at the Parador de Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).More than 120 representatives from public and private institutions and the academic community attended the event to learn about the District Heating Alcalá project, an initiative that hopes to transform the city’s energy model by promoting the use of renewable energy.
With an investment of more than €35 million and powered by solar-thermal and biomass energy, the district heating network will supply hot water to more than 15,000 households and companies in the city of Alcalá de Henares.
As part of this event, ACCIONA Engineering presented several of the projects that it is currently working on in the field of energy efficiency.
E2DISTRICT is a project of the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 innovation and research programme, seeking to generate savings in energy costs for district heating and cooling systems.
The SMARTENCITY project is also part of the Horizon 2020 programme. It primarily seeks to develop a systemic approach for transforming European cities into sustainable, smart and resource-efficient urban environments, reducing energy demand while maximising the supply of renewable energy.
Lastly, the REMOURBAN project (Regeneration Model for Accelerating the Smart Urban Transformation) aims to develop a framework for delivering solutions focused on sustainability and reducing pollution.ACCIONA Construction is the lead partner for the refurbishment of the buildings in the FASA district of Valladolid.
