ACCIONA took part in the FIDIC International Contract Users Conference that took place in London on 3 and 4 December.
The aim of this event, which was attended by engineers, consultants, contractors and legal professionals from the construction sector, was to analyse the impact of this new contract model.
The event took place two years after the launch of the FIDIC contracts (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) in December 2017.Internationally recognised, these contracts provide parties with greater legal certainty, which is why they have been adopted by international institutions such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank or the European Development Bank.
João Ascensão, Head of Contract Management for the Construction Business of ACCIONA for Europe, North America and the Portuguese-speaking countries, gave a talk on behalf of the company at 11:30 am on 4 December.
During his address, João Ascensão discussed various international case studies, focusing on aspects such as the characteristics of certain public contracts in developing countries; the resistance of some clients to take on contractual commitments; or the failure to establish a dispute board (DB) – the body that is set up when a contract is signed to solve potential disputes during its implementation.
