ACCIONA Construction is taking part in the 7th Road Tunnels Symposium being held at Barcelona’s Conference Centre from 12 to 14 February.Organised by the Technical Roads Association, every year this gathering brings together professionals from the sector and representatives from public and private institutions.
The event will have an exhibition zone, in which ACCIONA Construction will be present at Stand 11-12, where it will showcase the company’s latest innovations in the field of tunnel construction.Visitors to ACCIONA Construction’s stand will also be able to learn about the high-speed railway tunnels of the Follo Line project in Norway, thanks to a virtual reality system.
Meanwhile, the Symposium’s technical program will examine issues such as improvements in tunnel management, different suitability and operating models for these infrastructures, new technologies and design in these types of projects, tunnel inspections and the future of road tunnel projects, among others.
David López, Installations Manager at ACCIONA Engineering, will give a technical talk about LED lighting and adaptive control in tunnels based on a case study carried out by the company, namely the Caldearenas tunnel on the A-23 highway through the Monrepós highlands (Huesca).
Various technical visits to projects currently underway in the province of Barcelona have also been organised during the Symposium. These will include, among others, visits to the Viladecavalls tunnel on the B-40 highway, in the section between Olesa de Montserrat and Viladecavalls; and the tunnel under the Les Glories Plaza, in which three of Barcelona’s main arteries all join up (Gran Vía de las Corts Catalanes, Avenida Meridiana and Avenida Diagonal).ACCIONA Construction is part of the consortium carrying out the works on both projects.
