ACCIONA Construction, through its R&D Technology Centre, is one of the organisers of the Predictive Preventive Corrective Constructions conference (PPCC 19), which will take place in Madrid on Tuesday 19 March.
The event will be held at the Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Sciences in Madrid and is free to attend. Simply register in advance by sending an email to PPCCfirstname.lastname@example.org
The conference will focus on the analysis of new durability strategies for extending the useful life of concrete structures, based on the “self-responsive” capacity of this material.
The challenge of new durability strategies is to incorporate actions based on “non-active maintenance” into these structures. The integration of “self-responsive” actions into the concrete is helping to develop longer lasting structures with predictive, preventive and corrective capabilities, helping to meet the sustainability expectations proposed in the EU’s Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) policy.
The conference will feature national and international speakers, who will discuss and examine the durability strategies and actions carried out under the framework of the European LORCENIS project (Long Lasting Reinforced Concrete for Energy Infrastructure under Severe Operating Conditions).
Financed by the European Union through the H2020 Framework Programme, the LORCENIS project seeks to develop new smart materials that are capable of withstanding the most inhospitable environments thanks to their autonomous capabilities for repair and recovery, structural diagnosis and anti-corrosive protection.
Sixteen partners are participating in the project, including three European universities, six research centres, large corporations such as ACCIONA, SIKA, KVAERNER, VATTENFALL and DYCKERHOFF and medium-size companies like Smallmatek and ChemStream.
