ACCIONA is taking part in the “Contract management in the construction sector” conference, organised by the Association of Mining Engineers of Central Spain (COIMCE) and the Madrid Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI), on 25 September in Madrid.
The event will bring together experts from the sector to discuss the management of contracts and their evolution in the sector. Among them will be José Valén, head of the contract management area of the Infrastructure division of ACCIONA, who will give a talk entitled “The contract as a mechanism for allocating risk”.
Contract management in the construction sector is not only influenced by the technical complexity of a project, but also by its financial structure, the management of internal and external interfaces, and the communities in which these projects take place.
These factors, combined with the emergence of new technologies such as BIM methodology, process automation or the use of drones, are turning contract management into a fundamental risk management tool.
To tackle these challenges, project managers must be professionals with extensive technical knowledge, strategic capabilities and determination, and capable of anticipating risks and opportunities.
